Mr. Francis Doughan attended the University of Cape Coast, where he had his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and won the 1st prize of the Dr. Kwegyir Aggrey Award. He obtained his Master of Philosophy degree from the School of Nuclear and Allied Sciences (SNAS), University of Ghana in 2010 and Postgraduate Educational Course (PGEC) in Radiation Protection in 2022.
Mr. Doughan served as a teaching assistant at the Department of Physics, University of Cape Coast from 2006 to 2007, and later taught Physics at St. Martin Senior High School.
His interest includes dosimetry in external beam radiotherapy and brachytherapy; quality assurance in radiotherapy; safe use of radiation sources, transportation, and security.
His research area is in evaluation of uncertainties in dose distribution measurements in radiation therapy.
He has participated in several workshops training and conferences both locally and internationally. He also participated in the first national audit of radiotherapy facilities in Ghana. He has some publications to his credit.
Currently, Mr. Francis Doughan is a Principal Medical Physicist and Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) at the National Center for Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the Treasurer of GSMP.
