Professor Stephen Inkoom is a Medical Physicist and a Principal Research Scientist at the Radiation Protection Institute (RPI), Ghana Atomic Energy Commission. He is currently the Manager, at the Radiation Protection Training and Consultancy Centre of RPI.
- Project Coordinator NORPART-project “Ghana-Norway Collaboration in Medical Physics and Radiography Education”.
He is also a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Medical Physics, Department of Nuclear Safety and Security, at the Graduate School of Nuclear and Allied Sciences, University of Ghana. Prof. Inkoom has supervised several graduate students (Phd and MPhil), IAEA Fellows and B.Sc. students from both Ghana and African Countries. His current research profile is in “Optimization of Diagnostic Reference Levels (DRLs), Quality Audits in Diagnostic Radiology, CT Dosimetry, Radiation Protection (Medical Exposure, Occupational and Public), Radiation Safety, Quality Assurance, Patient Dosimetry, and Nuclear Security” among others.
He has participated in many International & National Technical Meetings & Expert Missions, IAEA Fellowships Training, Training Courses, National & International Research/Collaborative Projects, Workshops, Conferences & Seminars as an Invited Speaker, Resource Person & Participant. He is a member of several National & International Professional Bodies. He is the General Secretary – Ghana Association of Radiation Protection (GARP), Executive Member – Ghana Society for Medical Physics (GSMP), Council Delegate (Ghana) – Federation of African Medical Physics Organizations (FAMPO).
He has authored and co-authored scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, conference papers, newsletters and technical reports to his credit and contributed to drafting and review of International Atomic Energy Agency TECDOC Series, IAEA-TECDOC- 1734: Establishing a National Nuclear Security Support Centre in 2014. Prof. Inkoom has delivered 36 Conferences / Seminars / Invited Presentations, Facilitated 52 Training Courses / Fellowship Training.
